The Climate Crisis

Kansas is rich in wind and solar power potential which, with advances in battery storage technology, can reduce and replace our reliance on fossil fuels. We have an opportunity to be a leader in green technology and energy. It is important that we build the infrastructure needed to harness this potential and provide incentives for green development.

The Trump Administration is a roadblock to the transition away from carbon-based energy, leaving states to work together to solve this existential problem facing humanity.  The administration has repealed tax incentives for residential solar power and electric vehicles and withdrawn $4.9 billion in loans for the Grain Belt Express transmission line which would connect wind farms in Kansas to population centers in the East.

Kansas must:

  • Partner with other states to build up our high-power transmission infrastructure.

  • Invest in more solar and wind generation, as well as battery storage.

  • Enact state level incentives for homeowners to install solar panels.

  • Enact state level incentives for drivers to buy electric vehicles.

  • Upgrade building standards to mandate energy efficient buildings.

  • Invest in public transit of all types so Kansans don’t have to rely on personal vehicles to get across town, or across the state.
